The term 'open AI' refers to AI technology and software that is open in the sense of open source or public domain. This includes a variety of types of licence, and may refer to everything about a systme or jsut some aspects. For example, one might make. a generative model available in the public domain, but not the training set that gave rise to it, nor the algorithms used to create it. Not to be confused with the company OpenAI.
